WELCOME TO  INVERNESS CHORAL SOCIETY

Inverness Choral Society is a registered Scottish Charity No: SCO15219

Our Spring concert

We were privileged to sing the beautiful Brahms German Requiem to an almost capacity audience in Inverness Cathedral. We've had some lovely, positive feedback already but we're always ready to hear what people think.

As always, we're grateful to those without whom our concert would not happen. Our soloists Colleen Nicholl, Soprano and Colin Brockie, Baritone did not disappoint. The choir are always hugely grateful to Gordon Tocher, our conductor and Adrian Marple, our accompanist week by week at rehearsals, where they patiently encourage us to reach our performance standard. We're garetful also to both Gordon and Adrian for their work "on the night", with Adrian accompanying the work on the Cathedral organ. What a marvellous sound that was to hear. His solo pieces on the organ were a treat too.

A great night of wonderful music enjoyed by the Choral members and audience alike. Here are a few pictures from the night.

If you'd like to join the Choral for our next term, watch this space. We'll start rehearsals in mid August, meeting on Monday evenings at 7.30pm in Smithton Church, Inverness.

Our winter 2024 concert will be held on Saturday 16th November in Inverness Cathedral. More details will follow in due course.

Any local charity interested in partnering with us for our 2024 Carolthon 0n 14th December should e-mail info@Invernesschoral.org.uk to ask for further information, and to be considered by our committee. There is a requirement from the charity selected to provide some admin for the day, and to provide collectors on the day. Our decision on who is successful will be made in September.

Carolthon

14th December 2024

Our annual Carolthon was held on Saturday 16th December 2023 in the Eastgate Centre, Inverness. Our charity partner for 2023 was the Crocus Group, who provide bereavement support for children and young people aged 5 - 18 across the Highlands. If you'd like to read more about their work, click here to read their leaflet.

We were delighted to present representatives from Crocus with their half of the proceeds from the day.

Finally we have performed our Centenary concert, delayed three and a half years by the pandemic. You have given us lots of positive feedback on The Creation by Joseph Haydn. Our soloists and orchestra were enjoyed by all; it was great for the choir to be accompanied by an orchestra once more. Another positive was the use of a new venue for us, the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness. Thanks to all who came along to listen to the end result of many people's hard work, and of course to all who participated and made it possible. Here's to the next one!

Here are a few images captured during our rehearsal.
